About

Hi there! My name is Lisa & I'm a Texas gal, born and raised. :) I'm also a wife, mother, homeschool teacher, homemaker, crafter, and a DIY'er.

My hubby and I just celebrated our 10 year anniversary (May 2011) and we're the proud parents to a sweet little girl (age 7) and a very active but precious little boy (age 4).

We bought our first home about five years ago  and it is definitely what you call 'a fixer-upper'. We've made lots of improvements along the way including painting, knocking down walls, adding walls, painting, closing gas lines, removing windows, removing bushes, painting, adding a door, installing laminate floor, and of course more painting. These are just a few of the many things we've done so far and boy have we learned A LOT along the way. With that being said, there is still so much more to do to our little old house but we are finally at a point where we are enjoying the challenges brought our way as homeowners to our 'vintage' home. Thanks to the help of good friends and the internet we can officially call ourselves 'home DIY'ers.  I've taken many pics since the day we closed on the house but sadly most of the pictures before last year have been lost. Sad I know. I still have the memories of the condition of how this sweet home was before we got our hands on it and I'm definitely happier with how it is now, though we still have a long way to go.

Whenever I'm not with a hammer or paintbrush in hand, I love to read, surf the web, and of course spend time with my sweet little family. Thanks to my dear mother, I am a bargain hunter at heart. I inherited the cheap frugal gene from her. I heart garage sales, thrift stores, and craigslist! I refuse to pay full price for something I know I can get on sale or used (but still in good condition of course). Something else about me is I love scrapbooking and party planning! With my busy life, I don't get to involve myself in either of these hobbies very much anymore; although I will make time for a good friend of loved one when the occasion arises. My husband is a lover of good food and to my advantage, he took an interest in cooking while I was pregnant with my son four years ago. He's been cooking up a storm ever since, trying new recipes. We enjoy cooking together, it's a great time to catch up with each other and talk about our day.

I just have to add that I started this blog because my very dear friend Stacy left me moved away to Jersey and we thought a blog would be a good way to keep in touch. We could pop in whenever we weren't able to chat and catch up with one another on our blogs. I must say, I have only been blogging for a few months and have become addicted fallen in love with the blog world. Now that I know about this great new world, my only regret is that I didn't join sooner. I'm looking forward to making new friendships in this newly discovered world.

Follow me as we continue to tackle our home one room at a time and all the other things that my life consists of. :)
