Finishing Touches to the Master Bedroom

I'm done with the major aspects of the room: painting, hanging curtains, bedding, and a few accent pieces. I'm now trying to decide on what to do with the wall above my bed. I've seen some cute ideas that people have done with scrapbooking paper and being the scrapbooker that I am, this idea appeals to me a lot. Here are a few I like:

I like the simplicity and modern feel of this one by Sherry & John at Young House Love

I also came across this cute idea. She used foam board & scrapbook paper on this one.
You can find out how do this yourself at  Queen of DIY

And here's yet another one using foam board that I liked from

So after looking at these among others that I forgot to bookmark, I tried my hand at coming up with an idea. I am planning to go buy some frames tomorrow but in the meantime, I came up with a rough draft of sorts to get an idea of what I want. Here is what I came up with:

I used acrylic paint and a foam brush to make this design on the smaller scrap paper just to get an idea. I'm thinking if I go with this idea, I want to do the entire sheet with this design. I thought this design would compliment the print on the lampshades that I already have.

So what do you think? Too simple? Too much? I'd love to get your input. Oh, and just in case you're wondering, I'm going to get black frames for these.

  1. Lisa, I really like the fact that it is simple. I think it's just what you need because your bed is ornate in itself, being that it's a four poster bed with a headboard design. You don't want too much going on up there. Those three pops of color are perfect. Can't wait to see how it turns out! :o)

  2. I love this design idea! I love simple. I really like that you are going to frame them too. You asked - so I'll tell - I can't tell how high your wall is there but I would do more rows.....but that's just me - taking simple and making it complicated LOL!
Thanks for coming over to my blog and commenting - it made my day :)

  3. Stacy, I agree with you on the headboard aspect. Thanks for the advice, can't wait to show you the end result. :)

Cathy, my wall is only about 8 ft tall or so but I went ahead and went with your advice and I'm gonna try two rows instead of one. I already bought the frames so I'll find out soon how it turns out & share it. Glad to make a new friend and that I could make someone's day with some simple words. :)

  4. Can't wait to see your end product with the scrapbook paper idea. Some paper is so frameworthy! I did a lamp shade out of the paper and another gal did the entire back side of her daughters room. I'll send you the link. Thanks for stopping by my blog and good luck with the map!
